Our Story
About James Plumbing in Allen, TX | Your Local Expert
20 years ago, I got hired by a plumbing company, and something strange happened.
Have you ever realized you were really good at something? For me, that something is plumbing. Since that first day on the job and all these years later, the best I can describe it is that something just clicked inside of me.
No two jobs are the same; you’re constantly meeting new people and solving new problems. There’s something about plumbing that grabbed my attention and never let go.
Early on, my specialty was commercial plumbing with a focus on restaurants. After the markets crashed in 2008, work slowed down a lot, and I started doing residential jobs to pay the bills.
During the 17 years I spent working for other companies and learning the business from the inside out, I always thought about one day going out on my own.
After years of saving, I was finally ready. We opened in 2023, and every year we’ve been growing. I’m using a playbook that doesn’t have fancy marketing or slick ads. I figured there are already so many companies doing that stuff that we should do something different.
And it’s working.
Our experience has been that if we just make customers happy, the business takes care of itself. People appreciate that we don’t have salespeople and that we’re just as eager to tell them how to prevent clogged drains, as we do the unclogging.
It turns out that helping people is enough.
I can’t tell you how many times we’ve found lost jewelry and other valuable items that customers thought were gone forever. You never forget the look on someone’s face when you hand them a wedding ring they thought was lost forever.
My wife came up with a phrase you’ll see us using sometimes, and it makes me smile every time I see it:
Skip the games and just call James.
That’s the whole thing in a nutshell. For example, we don’t think hourly pricing is anything but a trap. There’s no incentive to actually do the work because being slow pays more money. In every town in Texas, there’s a customer who regrets getting lured in by hourly pricing.
Now all you have to do is see for yourself.
Sincerely
